Shinezone will prevent or adequately control exposure to hazardous substances arising from chemicals, biological contamination, dusts, aerosols and substances generated during work.

Process

• Maintain a current product and substance inventory
• Maintain safety data sheets and manufacturer instructions
• Assess route of exposure, quantity, concentration, ventilation, persons exposed, mixing, spills, biological contamination, storage and transport
• Eliminate unnecessary use, substitute where safer, use controls and safe working methods, limit duration and use PPE as the final layer
• Communicate hazards, dilution, PPE, first aid, spill response, storage, disposal and incompatibilities
• Review after product changes, incidents, worker symptoms, new tasks, new site conditions or updated safety information

Rules

• No unapproved products
• No food or drink containers
• No unlabelled bottles
• No incompatible mixing
• No work beyond competence
• No assumption that natural or eco means non-hazardous
• No tight-fitting RPE without suitable assessment and fit requirements

Storage, transport and health surveillance

Use labelled containers, secure upright transport, segregation of incompatible products, restricted access, spill provisions and stock controls. Where assessment indicates a need, seek competent advice and establish suitable health-surveillance arrangements.
